I am from freshly cut grass
From leather belts and punishments
I am from sweat on my ancestors aching bodies
(clear , dirty it tastes like salt)
I am from mean streets and violence
The rough edges in concrete
Those of many have tripped over
I’m from those incarcerated and interrogated
From John and Felicia
I’m from the pessimists
And the optimists
From tidbits of happiness and full course of depression
I’m from scriptures and verses every Sunday
I’m from the city to the country
Borrowed vehicles and ½ tanks of gas
I am from the sound of change in my daddy’s pocket to hold me for school
lunch.
I’m from simmering pots for my bath water
I am from the mountain highs and the valley lows
I am the thoughts before actions
I am the future
Puppies
Active, playful
running , rolling, playing
Making careless messy creations
Canines
Model
Unique, gifted
Modeling, styling, expressing
Defining views of fashion
Beauty
Every time a butterfly is down
Mysteriously turns it’s color brown
To put on a grin
That comes from within
It can turn this butterfly’s around
There once was a girl named Sue
Who constantly visited the zoo
Many people wondered why
She’d respond with a weird reply
Every one said she must be a monkey too
Sunny
Fire, passion, red
Heating , burning , steaming
Calm, cold, moist
Night, blue
Cool colors
Caterpillar
Insect
Small, crawly, creature
morphing, growing, staging
slowly, beautifies
wings, fly
butterfly
Trees are bare
Behind it all is nothing but nudity
All of the effort to put into growing leaves
and over the seasons.
I stand here and watch the tees wither and die
Before I began to reminisce
On the warm calm air that I felt
I remember It will come back to visit me once more and
so will my wardrobe.
But now the time for a new one
