"I Am" Poem

"I Am" Poem

I am a chef and a driver
I wonder how old the oldest person is
I hear car horns
I see ford mustangs
I want a penthouse suite in Florida
I am a chef and a driver

I pretend to sleep
I feel tired
I touch the pillow
I worry about black on black crime
I cry when family members die
I am a chef and a driver

I understand my name is Rodney Boyd
I say I am black
I dream to be successful
I try to do my class work
I hope to live long
I am a chef and a driver

Limerick

There was a young lady whose chin
Resembled the point of a pin
So she had it made sharp,
And purchased a harp,
And played several tunes with her chin.

There once was a light moon
Volcanoes erupted night, morning and noon.
Red colors on surface
I look like a pizza
Galileo will swoop by real soon.

There was an old man from Peru,
Who dreamed he was eating his shoe.
He woke in a fright
In the middle of the night
And found it was perfectly true.
