Where I'm From Poem

I am from pain and grief,
From the birth canal cut open.
I am from parties long over due.
(gleaming eyes and
the suns burning and life giving rays.)
That burns the backs and necks
Of hard working men and women.
As if they were steaks.

I am from brand new sneakers
With no scuffs and no creases.
I am from the sting of defeat
And the sweetness of victory.
(ebonic’s learned but not
studied.)

I’m from skateboards
And scrapped knees.
Where the biggest jump equals
The biggest cheer.
I am from that place over
The rainbow.
Tin men roam and lions
Are impervious to a good scare.

Limerick

A charming farting preacher’s steel
Is ready for a hearty peel.
He ate his beans
And ripped his jeans.
So now the fire is really real.

Free Verse

Temptation came upon me
From where I do not know
She traps me with her magic
Never letting me pass
Each time I feel strong enough
To win I am once again
Over come by her talent
For those who I do love
I have forsaken greatly
And those I know not
Now know me all to well
Bound to you with eternal ties
Neither of us can choose
To let either one go
For I am a disease

Rhyming Couplet

I am a crack in the wall
I spread & spread until the walls fall
Ambition & drive are my worst foes
Yes, I try to keep your eye close
Knowledge makes me weak & powerless
Against it I tremble in my cowardice
Ignorance is bliss, that’s what I say
As long as you are I wont go away
Weak & sickly posses me to great lengths
To most who know they see their lack of strengths
At the forefront is my position
Helping to make choices with bad intuition
Now I will pass onto your begotten
Until all hope & good is forgotten
