"I Am" Poem

I am athletic and all about my business
I wonder if girls think like boys.
I hear the stars twinkling.
I see the world turning.
I want to be a pro football player.
I am athletic and charming.

I pretend to play in a very important football game when no one is around.
I feel like I am the best defensive back in the world.
I touch the souls of those who need comfort.
I worry if I will be as successful as I want to be.
I cry when things don’t work out how I planned.
I am athletic and all about my business.

I understand that I have to work for a living.
I say that what goes around, comes around.
I dream of being someone significant in my future.
I try to make the best of myself as a young man.
I hope to be wealthy in ten or more years.
I am athletic and all about my business.

Where I'm From Poem

I am from stray dogs,
From loud neighbors and disturbing teenagers.
I am from fist fights in the school playground.
I am from graffiti on the side of the candy store.
In which I remember as if I did them myself.

Then from the quiet mornings and active evenings.
From sandlot football and roller skating with my neighbors.
I’m from a drug free zone.
From noisy cars with loud engines and fancy paint jobs.
I’m from illegal street races on Hall Street.

I’m from beats and lyrics,
Drums and stings,
trumpets and clarinets.
From adults reminiscing about there childhood,
About what music was popular then and what music is like now.

Cinquain

Football
Organized, physical
Tiring, entertaining, mind blowing
Ball hard, fall hard
Painful

Cops
Snakes, con artists
Watching, waiting, working
Most disliked in neighborhoods
Police

Limerick

There once was a lady named Tiny
Whose porch was as big as her hiney.
She quit eating fries
And deducted in size
Until she weighed under one ninety.

I once knew a man named charley,
A man who loved his Harley.
He fell off his bike,
Almost lost his life.
Since then he played with his Barbie.

Diamante

Violent
Harsh, harmful
Entertaining, disturbing, corrupted
Disaster to mankind, mind warping/ comfortable, the best way to be
Safe, painless
Non-violent

Life
Hard, unfair
Long lasting, cherished, praised
Enjoyable, worshipped/ unwanted, feared
Approaching, creeping, expected
Hated, eternal
Death
