"I Am" Poem

I am smart and athletic
I wonder what’s heaven really like
I hear a whistle blowing in the wind
I see beautiful rainfalls beneath my feet
I want to be truly happy and successful
I am smart and athletic

I pretend to have no money when people beg
I feel so high like a bird shoring in the sky
I touch millions of dollars
I worry about not graduating on time
I any when Mufasa die on The Lion King
I am smart and athletic

I understand that life isn’t easy
I say hard work gets rewarded at the end
I dream about growing old with my wife and kids
I try to improve my health
I hope to be happy even with out money
I am smart and athletic

Where I'm From Poem

I am from street basketball
From kill a man football
I am from under the front porch (dark and grassy.)
I am from neighborhood snitches
Who loves to call the police?
From knock on a door and run it was always fun
I am from wrestling in someone else yard
From running away from their dog

I am from chilling in the homeboy’s crib
Listening to his mother rapping and raging
From running outside at the sound of the ice cream truck
From playing true or dare at the summers house parties
I’m from boardway and Canaan street where all the kids looked funny

From recess at Baden school From Playing caught a girl get a girl with my crew
I am from getting wet with a water hose
From playing man hunt all over the hood
I am from midnight games played on the porch
From racing down the street cause I knew I couldn’t be beat
I am from soul food on Sundays and watching football
From waking up early to watch Saturdays cartoons
I am from up north but moved to this central state

Cinquain

Roaches
Tiny, disquisting
Tricky, quick, smart
Your home, their home
Survivors

Sun
Big, bright
Burning, moving, orbiting
Giving life to everything

Mother
Supportive, loving
Caring, giving, understanding
Teacher, wise/student, smart
Learning, independented, guided
Active, lost
Son

Summer
Hot, sunny
Swimming, relaxing, blooming
Windy, rainy/ stuffy, chills
Tired, frosted, sleeping
Snow, cold
Winter

Haiku

Drinking coco now
Chocolate aroma taste
To snowy to play

Skiing down the slope
Back flips and twists to win gold
Winner is the best

Swimming in the pool
Treading in the deepest end
To dark come inside

Leaves are now falling
Things are now slowing down today
Time has stop for good

Blank Verse

Expressed by the power of love so strong,
Between a mother and son at first united as one
At birth she held him tight as if was her last time
Didn’t cry that surprised the whole family
As they all looked at a healthy little boy blink and yarn

Fell asleep his life has began day after July thirty
Two days later what home told everyone
Named him after his second oldest cousin
First step was not his last as he scrolled around the house
Breaking things that didn’t be long to him

Face was so cute no one could be mad for long
He just smile and giggled when his tickle
Very smart and bright everyone knew he distant for greatness
Not very tall as everyone plan him to be
But his height was accepted from people who unestiamated him

Very good in sports and in school but was very lazy
He started getting tired and hip after grade school.
But was always kept by his strong mother
Who didn’t let him lose any opportunity that came to him?
Most say him and his mother are as one

Once I met a beautiful girl
None like I ever met before
Different but very mysterious
So quiet but very out going
I myself was very shy and nervous to be around here
Always change the subject when it came to her
Not that I was scared but I didn’t; want to lose my dignity
Friends were very cruel at this age
They didn’t understand the true value of love
Neither did I but in my heart it was real
Dark night every child around was out
She came and sat on the porch
Played some game of hide go seak my way of getting to know her
At the end received a number
God himself lifted me in that day
And first the first time I felt love

There once was a boy named Jack
Who knew the comedian Bernie Mac?
He went to his show in his town
He thought Bernie was a clown
He had V.I.P access to the back
And wore his favorite lucky hat
After the show they went put to eat
The restaurant didn't have any seats
The occasion won a free meal
But anyway Bernie paid the bill
After dinner they went out for ice cream
But ran out of rocky road that Jack seem
Bernie drop Jack back at home
And said Jack will always be alone
